Is This A Viable Alternative To Taping Your Hexayurt?

Alex Gorbatchev, in a recent post to the Google Hexayurt Group, describes an assembly process for his hurt that uses electrical conduit (1/4″ EMT pipe) to the edges of the individual panels so that they can be attached using nylon wire ties.

Unfortunately, there are no details regarding how the EMT pipe is attached to the individual panels before they are joined together.
